THE GROVES OF TUSTIN CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Jane Meyer

“Every so often at the dinner table, we look at each other and say “We really are so lucky to be here!” “Why?” , I asked myself. My personal reason’s top the list with the “warm care” attitude that pervades. Staff members at every level seem to want to really please me-to help me have a good day, to correct what isn’t right, to relieve my anxiety however they can. Then there’s the attention to cleanliness. Weekly laundry and cleaning are a blessing. And the dining room with its nice linen spoils me with its desire to give me the food I really want. Can you believe tiramisu? Lamb chops? The signature salad? Other regular services which are so helpful to me are the bus transportation to the doctor and church. And there isn’t enough time for the myriad of card games, special events, entertainers, art and craft classes planned by our professional activities director. So thank you and keep groovy!”

“For some time (nearly six years in fact), I have watched an amazing young woman, Mairene, do an exceptional job of entertaining, challenging, and brightening the lives of the residents of The Groves of Tustin.

As our Activities Director, she not only plans and carries out a monthly calendar of widely divergent outings, entertainments, and programs of all kinds, but also takes residents out often for a restaurant experience (and helps them figure out the tip!).

Her door is always open and her ear is always available for suggestions, questions, complaints, or a good joke. She is “Mairene” to everyone: warm, accepting, understanding but firm. How lucky we are to have her!”

“Michael loves the positive energy, attention, and good food (Joan, this means you!!) and I am more relaxed because I know he’s in good hands while he heals. Thank you for being there for both of us!”

“Thank you for that excellent luncheon yesterday. It is a pleasure to be a member of the Gold Key Club. Also, Roderick is a pleasant addition to your Caregiver staff. He is alert, efficient, and always gives everyone a great smile. He gives me that boost I need when I show up for breakfast in the morning”

“I want to express my appreciation to all of you who have helped along the way including Kristina, Executive Director, Mairene, Activities Director, and Susan, Dementia Program Director, along with the entire staff on the Generations floor. I am very impressed with the “saintly” giving and caring of all the attendants and Med Techs who help Lyn get through each day with the dignity she deserves. Susan has done everything I’ve asked her, whether it is giving me advice, or actually looking into specifics of Lyn’s care. Without her there to talk to, I would not be as happy as I am, seeing my life-partner of 54 years, being cared for by someone else besides me.

I want to give you my thanks for providing me a comfortable place within my own community to place Lyn with confidence. Please pass on my total appreciation to Susan for her diligence and hard work, so that she can in turn, tell all her wonderful people how much I appreciate even their smallest gestures of kindness to Lyn. I am grateful for all the time Susan has given me, with a smile and good attitude! Lyn has adjusted to her new “home” better than I had imagined when I began this process. The other day I noticed one of the ladies had even painted her fingernails, such a sweet gesture to be thankful for.”

“The care and the staff at The Groves are superior. They couldn’t have been more caring with my mom and seeing that her needs were met. When my mom first came in there, staff would come in and make her feel comfortable and integrated into the place. She was introduced to other seniors there, they had a lot of activities, and the medical staff really saw to her needs. They had all kinds of classes; my mother does oil painting, and she was able to complete two paintings in the six weeks she was there. They really encourage and support the people that were there. They had get-togethers in the afternoon in the courtyard, art classes to keep their minds active, and once a month they had outside people come in to entertain them. They had a movie room and a library. The thing that I felt was most interesting was they had a lounge area with a TV and the whole time my mom was there, I never saw anybody in that room sitting there watching TV which I think was significant. The maintenance and up-keep was superior. They had someone come in once a day who would make the bed, tidy up the room, and take out the trash. Once a week they had someone who would do the extra cleaning, clean the bathroom, and do her laundry. The food was unbelievably good; the chef is award winning, he took the proportions and the type of food that seniors can eat completely into consideration and came out to talk to them. I can’t speak highly enough of them.”

“Everything is going very well so far. I really can’t think of any improvements needed! We mainly chose this place because it’s near our loved one’s previous residence, so it didn’t disturb her “friend network”. What we really liked was that the activities director is also a painter, so…”

“This was my first experience going into any form of an assisted living home and I was actually impressed with the condition of the facility. Everything in the common area was clean and that same cleanliness extended to the entire facility from the guest’s rooms to the lounge.”

“They are very friendly, and they answered all of my questions about how my grandparent was doing. They gave me a tour of the area; there are some private spaces where guests can be alone and be away from the crowd. There are also some common spaces such as restaurants, where they can interact…”
