Tustin, CA (May 2017) The Groves of Tustin, a local senior living community, is celebrating its Vibrant Life® program with a recipient of “This is Your Life.”

Resident Walter Barsamian was recently showcased, celebrating his life, and many achievements.

Walter is a longtime resident of Southern California. He was born in 1926 in Providence, Rhode Island where he lived with his mother, father, sister and grandmother. He worked at his father’s grocery store and in a bowling alley in high school.

After graduating high school, Walter enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. During his two years of service, Walter was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. On his return, Walter attended Brown University and received his law degree. While attending a dance with a friend in Washington DC, Walter met his future wife, Celia.

They married in March 1957 in San Francisco, California where they lived for a brief period of time. They had five children: Vanessa, Sandra, Steven, Blake and Ray. In 1973 Walter moved his family to Irvine, California, with his law practice set up in Newport Beach.

Walter enjoyed traveling and did quite a bit of it. He visited Australia, Scotland, Paris, England, Armenia, Russia and Turkey. Walter was a doting husband and father. His lifetime accomplishment is raising his five children and having Celia for his wife and companion.

Walter became a resident of the Groves in July 2015. He participates in as many activities as possible, and in his spare time he likes to read his newspaper and watch football and baseball.

Walter can often be seen wearing his Marine Corps red jacket, and his red USC hat. His love for USC must be the football team as neither he, nor anyone in his family has ever attended USC.

The Groves Vibrant Life Program consists of four Signature Programs that were developed as a tool to help insure the community provides quality programming that contribute to the overall well-being and self-worth of its residents. One component of the program is “This is Your Life” which encourages social connectivity. Individual residents are showcased throughout the year to share their life stories and personal accomplishments.

“Our mission is ‘to optimize health and well-being by passionately promoting a Vibrant Life® filled with joyful experiences, meaningful endeavors, and abundant opportunities so that our residents connect with family, friends and the local community,’ said Alma Gomez for The Groves.
