The Groves of Tustin Hosts Virtual Dementia Tour

On Thursday, July 28th, 2016, The Groves of Tustin, in conjunction with Senior Helpers, hosted a Dementia Virtual tour to give family, friends, staff and professionals a clearer understanding of what it is like living with dementia. Over 30 people received this very eye opening sensitivity training. Participants had headphones with background static, special glasses to simulate impaired vision, shoe inserts and thick gloves to mimic neuropathy. They were then given a series of simple tasks to complete but many found it challenging to finish the tasks with their new impairments. This training helped kick off The Groves of Tustin’s fundraising efforts for the upcoming Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Our Chef’s Garden is Up and Growing!

We got our new Chef’s Garden planted this past week. Our residents have really enjoyed getting the soil ready, planting all of the vegetables and keeping everything hydrated during this heat wave. Two of our ladies grew up on a farm so they told us all about their farming days and gave us lessons and tips on how to plant. We have peppers, tomatoes, squash and cucumbers. YUM!
